**Interviewing Tips Alert**
Continuing to share - I was recently on a “Job Hunting During a Pandemic” panel sharing tips on resumes and interviewing based on my experience of reviewing thousands of resumes and conducting hundreds of interviews over my career. Here are 3 Interviewing Tips:
1. Research the Company
Researching the company prior to your interview shows interest and initiative to your potential employer.
Where to look? Review the company’s website, read recent company articles on Google News, look at their social media accounts, and if they are a public company, you could read Bloomberg or other 3rd party overviews about the company
Don’t skip this step and make sure you ask a question about something you’ve read.
2. Ask Questions
One of the biggest mistakes I have seen candidates make in an interview is not ask questions to each interviewee.
Asking questions shows that you have a natural curiosity to learn!
Make sure you have at least a few thoughtful questions ready to ask before going into the interview.
And better yet, as you are having a conversation, something else they say or ask may spark another question in your mind. Bonus points if you have more of a conversation with the interviewer!
3. STAR answers (Situation or Task, Action, Result)
As you respond to questions from the interviewer, make sure to answer them with complete answers so it gives them everything they need to know - the context of the story, what specific steps were completed or not completed and how it was done, and the result of your actions.
