Continuing to share - I was recently on a “Job Hunting During a Pandemic” panel sharing tips on resumes and interviewing based on my experience of reviewing thousands of resumes and conducting hundreds of interviews over my career. Here are 3 additional Resume Tips:
1. File Name
Oh, my goodness, this may be the easiest thing to change and you wouldn’t believe the number of folks who don’t pay attention to this.
Make sure your resume’s file name includes your full name and do not include any nicknames/cutesy terms.
While we are on this theme, you may want to consider updating your email address. The goal (for most fields/positions) is to come across as professional as possible.
2. Magic Verbs
Your resume should be filled with powerful verbs.
The days of having boring terms like “responsible for…” or “completed…” are over.
I have a list of many examples to help, please reach out to me!
3. Numbers
Fill your resume with numbers to show how/what you’ve improved/changed/grown/saved the company.
It’s all about showing how you’ve improved the company so someone can imagine you doing something similar at the company you are interviewing for.
